This 1,100 sq ft batchelor pad is in one of historic Chester’s most sought-after locations, overlooking Chester’s famous racecourse. Situated in a 1960s concrete-constructed building, Mark gutted the apartment to completely redesign the interior. This included a new limestone bathroom, and contemporary kitchen. Mark wanted to utilise the balcony in order to make it appear an extension of the sitting room so added sliding doors and outdoor furniture to complement the interior. Mark battened the bedroom walls with suede and chose Pierre Frey fabric for the curtains. The apartment houses a diverse collection of modernist art and sculpture with works by Jean Cocteau. prints by Henri Matisse and gouache work from André Derain.
