The Red Tower
The fifth property undertaken by MGID for this client was without doubt the most challenging of them all. A 12th century tower in the heart of the historic centre of Salzburg which was close to dereliction, with two additional 19th century wings in vastly different styles. The brief was to create a comfortable home over five floors, to add a new modern wing, bathrooms, and to restore the old elements whilst ensuring the new additions sat with the history of the building.
The craftsmen were all local Salzburg companies and the stones and marbles were sourced from the Salzburg area. A diverse mix of antique furniture and artworks were selected from the client’s collection which Mark counterpointed with contemporary British-made furnishings that assisted the unification of the old and new.
